Cooking

Find cooking buddies and cook together

Cooking for one gets repetitive, and learning a new dish is more fun with someone beside you. On GoMate people host plans to cook together, swap recipes, bake on a Sunday or put together a small potluck group where everyone brings one thing. It is a relaxed way to meet people who love cooking as much as you do.

Plans are hosted by members, so each one is different: a beginners' baking afternoon, a regional recipe swap, a market run followed by cooking. You request to join, the host approves who comes, and the group chat handles ingredients, who brings what, and dietary needs before anyone lights a stove.

How it works

  1. 1

Browse Cooking plans, or host one with the dish, the date and whether it is a potluck or shared kitchen.

  2. 2

Request to join. The host approves members and may ask about dietary needs.

  3. 3

Split ingredients in the group chat, then meet up and cook together.

Stay safe. For a first meetup, a potluck in a park or common area is easier than a stranger's home. Members are selfie-checked, and hosts approve each person before they join the group chat.

Questions, answered

Something else on your mind? Write to us.

Do I have to host cooking at my home?

No. Many people start with a potluck in a park or a common area, where everyone brings something they cooked at home. If you do host at home, you choose who joins, since every request needs your approval.

Can I join if I am not a good cook?

Yes. Plenty of plans welcome beginners, and the description usually says so. Mention your level in your request. Most hosts are happy to have someone who chops, washes up and learns along the way.

How do we share ingredient costs?

GoMate does not handle payments. Groups agree in the plan's group chat who buys what, or split costs among themselves. Hosts often mention the expected contribution in the plan description so there are no surprises.
