Add your interests to your profile, and the People tab shows people around you who share them, so you can find like-minded people without guessing.
From there, the easiest step is a plan. Join one in a category you care about, or host a plan around your hobby and let people nearby with common interests request to join. You approve who comes, chat in the group, and meet over the thing you both enjoy. Conversation is easy when it starts from a shared passion.

How does GoMate show people with similar interests?
The People tab lists people nearby who share interests with you, based on the interests on your profile. It shows an approximate distance only, never an exact location. You can then meet through plans in those categories.
What if my hobby is very niche?
Host a plan for it anyway. A specific plan, like a vinyl listening evening or a chess openings session, attracts exactly the people who care. Use the closest category, or Something else, and describe it clearly so the right people find it.
Is this a dating feature?
No. GoMate is for friendship and activities. The People tab helps you see others nearby with similar hobbies, and you meet through group plans. Anyone who behaves inappropriately can be reported or blocked.
